The charming, secluded parcel of land, now known as Twin Branch Winery, was once the hub of a liquor business that was both unlicensed and illegal. Many old-timers in Sussex County remember it as a place to purchase booze on Holidays and Sundays, when it was forbidden statewide. It wasn’t easy to get to, but those in the know could count on Bernice to have what they wanted (and she didn’t ask for any ID!).
